The aim of this class is to teach you to understand and mix colour when painting. You will learn how to identify colour and how to replicate it by mixing paint, learning how to create shade and light in a painting.

During the day we will perform several colour mixing exercises that help you to understand how colours behave on their own or when mixed while adjusting hue, value and chroma. These exercises will include preparation of own colour wheels, value studies, local colour matching and painting from life.

There will also be a short introduction about light, pigments and other painting materials.
During the second part of the day we will focus on other practical exercises where we apply what we learned earlier into a small painting.

What you will learn:
– How to understand colour: New concepts of the colour theory and mixing
– Using a limited palette
– Learn to use the Munsell System to adjust hue, value and chroma – How to avoid getting muddy colours
